Dental Retainers

To help preserve the alignment of your teeth after completing your orthodontic treatment, Dr. Peter Bayer and Dr. Leigh Bayer Curtis offer custom dental retainers in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Teeth movement is a natural process, which means that your teeth can move back to their original positions without a retainer to keep them in place. With Bayer & Curtis Orthodontics’s retainers, patients can maintain a straight smile for years to come. Obtain or restore your retainer from our orthodontists by calling us at (850)-244-8602 and scheduling your appointment.

A retainer is a custom-made appliance used to maintain the alignment of your teeth after orthodontic treatment is completed. Before completing your orthodontic treatment, such as Invisalign® or braces, our orthodontists will recommend a retainer (included in your treatment’s fee) to maintain the achieved aligment. A retainer is actually a continuation of your orthodontic treatment throughout your adult life.

These are the three styles of retainers we use:

  • Clear removable retainers are made of clear material covering the front to back portions of your teeth.
  • Fixed retainers have also been called bonded or permanent retainers. These retainers are cemented to the inside of your teeth, preventing them from shifting out of place.
  • Hawley retainers are an acrylic and metal type of retainer used to keep your teeth properly aligned and/or sometimes used to correct minor movements.
